The bracket fungi on this page appear to be members of the genus Ganoderma containing species known as Artist's Brackets, Reishi, and Allies.

The conks that we see on the side of trees or logs are the fruiting bodies of various species of Ganoderma root rot that infect various hardwoods and conifers, or in the case of palms Ganoderma butt rot.
