Hairy Hexagonia
This is one of the many bracket fungi - also known as shelf fungi.
The top surface of the conk - or fruiting body - had a light-colored rim. Inside of this a brown band that had the texture of a short pile carpet, with a center dark purplish disk that was shaggy.
