A study published in Zootaxa in 2016 [Phylogenetics, classification, and biogeography of the treefrogs (Amphibia: Anura: Arboranae) by William E. Duellman, Angela B. Marion & S. Blair Hedges] reclassified some of the Hyla species to Dryophytes.
