Welcome to the Wild Florida Photo plants database. This database lists information on various plant species occurring in Florida. This is not a complete listing, but mostly only those plants of which I have photos.
Each plant profile includes both the scientific and most common names. Also listed is the status of the plant: native or non-native, invasive, threatened or endangered (both Federal & state).
Synonyms are included in many cases where the prevaling scientific classification has recently been changed or is in dispute.

I - This plant is an invasive exotic that is altering native plant communities by displacing native species, changing community structures or ecological functions, or hybridizing with natives.
II - Invasive exotics that have increased in abundance or frequency but have not yet altered Florida plant communities to the extent shown by Category I species.
