Gold Head Branch
Gold Head Branch State Park
This image shows Gold Head Branch as the clear spring-fed water flows over the sand-bottomed streambed and a fallen log and the lush foliage of ferns, needle palms and other plants on the banks. This scene is in a deep ravine along the Fern Loop trail in Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park.
Mike Roess donated the land for the state park, which was then developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps(CCC) in the 1930's. Numerous CCC structures still exist in the park, including some of the cabins.
