Life on the dunes, beach bunnies, searockets, survival and resurgence...

Welcome to the Paul Rebmann Nature Photography Newsletter May 2017 edition.

After hurricane Matthew last fall, I was pleased to discover that our beach bunnies - the marsh rabbits that have been living on the dunes for the past year or two - survived the storm surge, even though most of the vegetation was wiped out.

Now spring has brought a surge of new growth to augment the beach plants that I had transplanted on the dunes last fall. In particular the native searocket plants have sprouted from the natural seed bank as an example of the adaptations of this plant to living in a frequently disruptive environment.
